Report finds speeding led to crash that killed 4 girls
Tragedy struck when a group of close friends, four of them students from Archie Williams High School in Marin County, were involved in a fatal SUV crash. The 16-year-old driver had only held her driver's license for a few months before the horrific incident took place on April 18. Unfortunately, four girls, including 14-year-old Olive Koren and 10th graders Josalynn Osborn, Sienna Katz, and Ada Kepley, lost their lives in the crash. The CHP report, which highlighted the impact of speeding as a major factor, revealed that the SUV collided with a tree on San Geronimo Valley Road while traveling nearly 60 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. Miraculously, a 14-year-old passenger and the driver survived with severe burn injuries, thanks to the assistance of good Samaritans. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with recommendations for potential criminal prosecution against the driver under California Penal Code 192 (c)(1) and Vehicle Code 12814.6b. The DA's office is reviewing the case, but details remain confidential due to the involvement of minors.
