Report blames power outage for deadly medical helicopter crash on Highway 50

Nearly a month ago, a tragic incident occurred when a medical helicopter crashed onto Highway 50 in East Sacramento, resulting in the loss of one crew member's life and injuring two others. The NTSB recently initiated an investigation into the helicopter, registered as N414RX, post-crash. The initial report revealed that the helicopter was operating as part of an air medical flight, departing from UC Davis Medical Center Tower and heading to McClellan Airfield. The investigation disclosed that Paramedic Margaret Davis noted power failure after takeoff, leading to an emergency landing on the highway. The helicopter suffered severe damage, and parts were found embedded in nearby structures. The cause of the power failure remains undetermined as the investigation continues.
