Reopening of I-15 South in San Diego post wrong-way driver collision

Over the weekend in San Diego, a traffic collision occurred on I-15 south due to a driver going the wrong way, according to local law enforcement. The incident involved two vehicles, including a BMW SUV traveling in the incorrect direction in the HOV lane, causing the closure of multiple lanes just after 3 p.m. CHP stated that a car managed to avoid the BMW, which then collided with another SUV while heading north in the southbound lanes of I-15 near the 52 highway junction. One individual was transported to the hospital as a result of the crash, as reported by CHP. Thankfully, all lanes on I-15 south were operational again by 5:10 p.m., as confirmed by Caltrans.
