Recovery of Guthrie High School Students and Staff After Car Accident

At State Highway 33 and Coyle Road in Payne County, a collision occurred involving Guthrie Public Schools students and a staff member. Six students and a choir director from Guthrie High School were impacted when their vehicle was struck head-on by a pickup truck. The incident took place as they were returning home from the Oklahoma State football game in Stillwater. The pickup driver was unable to stop in time when a car turned onto Coyle Road, leading to the collision. The students, who were working at a concession stand during the game to raise funds for their choir program, sustained injuries. The choir director, who was driving the school's vehicle, was hospitalized but has since been discharged. His family anticipates a lengthy recovery. The current condition of the remaining student is unknown. Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson shared these details in a statement and requested prayers for those involved.
