Recovering victim of Pensacola drunk driving crash walks again after 19 months

Erika Brigman has made a remarkable recovery from a traumatic head-on collision with a drunk driver in July 2023. Brigman, who resided with her family in North Carolina for a year during her recovery, has since been in Pensacola for the final phase of her recuperation. The accident resulted in severe injuries including broken bones in her foot, leg, arms, and kneecaps, as well as a punctured lung. The most critical injury was to her back, caused by the seat belt, leaving Brigman with a severe internal cut. Despite the bleak prognosis from one of her doctors who doubted her survival, Brigman has defied the odds and is now able to walk without assistance. Her friend, Annah Lewis, who was with her during the accident, was shocked by the severity of Brigman's injuries. The medical staff at Sacred Heart Hospital has marveled at Brigman's progress, as they rarely witness the long-term recovery of their former patients.
