New information has been revealed about the recent tragic accident that claimed the lives of three high school students in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The collision occurred on October 8, when a Honda Civic carrying four individuals crashed into a utility pole and a tree on Rosehill Road just before 7:30 p.m. The passengers who tragically lost their lives were identified as 18-year-old Jai'Hyon Elliott, 17-year-old Trevor Merritt, and 17-year-old Nicholas Williams, all students and football players at E.E. Smith High School. The driver, 21-year-old Dymond Nekiya Monroe, was critically injured in the crash. Following investigations, police have charged Monroe with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and also charged Monroe and her sister, 19-year-old Destini Rhinada Genwright, with various offenses including speeding and reckless driving. Video evidence shows Monroe’s vehicle was speeding at 92 m.p.h. prior to the crash. Genwright, who denied racing with her sister, was contacted by police a week after the incident and later turned herself in. Monroe remains hospitalized in critical condition as of the latest police update.
