New information has been disclosed regarding the case involving a woman accused of causing a fatal collision in east Wichita. Clowie McLaughlin, aged 80, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence after her vehicle struck the car driven by LaShea Bell, resulting in the tragic deaths of Bell and her daughter, A’Niah. According to court records, McLaughlin admitted to consuming alcohol before the crash, claiming she could not recall the incident or her speed, only that she was trying to get home. Reports indicate she had a cocktail and wine at a restaurant in east Wichita prior to the collision, where surveillance footage captured her visibly impaired state. Further investigation revealed she went through a red light and was driving at 62 miles per hour without braking when the collision occurred. McLaughlin is currently free on bail, with her next court appearance scheduled for September 29.
