Qatari officials die in car accident near Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh
According to a post on X by Qatar's embassy in Egypt, three employees of Qatar's Amiri Diwan were killed in a car accident near Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The embassy also reported that two others were injured and receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. The injured individuals and the deceased will be repatriated to Doha later on Sunday. The accident occurred when a car carrying Qatari diplomats overturned on a curve about 31 miles from the city. This incident happened shortly after Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt officials engaged in talks in Sharm el-Sheikh that contributed to an agreement between Israel and Hamas based on the initial phase of President Trump's plan for ending the conflict in Gaza. Sharm el-Sheikh is scheduled to host a global summit on Monday to advance the finalization of this agreement.
