
Purdue University train mascot involved in deadly crash in northern Indiana
Purdue University’s iconic Boilermaker Special vehicle was involved in a deadly crash in northern Indiana on Thursday.The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 4 p.m. on US 52 at Wyandotte Road.Deputies told NBC affiliate WTHR that the car was traveling northbound when it crossed the center line due to a possible tire malfunction and hit another car going southbound.The driver of the car traveling south was killed in the crash.Deputies also confirmed that two Purdue students who were in the Boilermaker Special sustained injuries in the crash.The Boilermaker Special VII is known as the official mascot of Purdue University.
