Prospect Park collision sends 5 to hospital, Chester Pike closed: authorities
Chester Pike has been reopened following a chaotic incident on Monday morning involving a multi-car crash that resulted in multiple individuals being sent to the hospital. The collision occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m., leading to the closure of Chester Pike between Summit Ave. and Amosland Rd. for approximately three hours. A driver in a Corvette is suspected to have caused the crash, impacting both eastbound and westbound lanes. The collision caused one vehicle to overturn and collide with a business, striking a gas line. Two other cars veered off the road, hitting several parked vehicles at C&B Motors wholesale lot. Dean Grivas, manager at C&B Motors, described the scene as unprecedented, expressing gratitude that all involved survived. Five adults were taken to nearby hospitals, with all expected to recover. Prospect Park Police Chief David Madonna commended the swift response of the local fire department and PECO in shutting off the gas line and rescuing the trapped individual. Richard Dellabarba, a nearby resident, shared his immediate concern for the woman trapped in the overturned car. The details regarding the reckless driver and potential charges remain unknown at this time.
