Preston Ordone, Known As ‘Okay Baby,’ Dies At Age 2 After Car Accident
Preston Ordone, a 2-year-old affectionately known as “Okay Baby” on TikTok, has died following a car accident involving his parents, according to family and authorities. In a news release shared on Facebook, the Louisiana State Police confirmed that the fatal accident occurred on April 24 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. At the time, Preston and his parents, Katelynn and Jaelan Ordone, were traveling in a 2011 Ford F-150. According to the release, “for reasons still under investigation,” the vehicle was moving on Interstate 12 when it veered off the roadway and struck a tree. The release stated that Katelynn and Jaelan Ordone were properly restrained, suffered serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals. Preston, who was seated in the rear, was reportedly “improperly restrained in a child safety seat” and sustained critical injuries. He was transported to a hospital where he later died. The Louisiana State Police emphasized the importance of proper seatbelt and child safety seat usage, noting that it significantly reduces the risk of serious injury or death in crashes. In keeping with standard procedure, authorities collected a routine toxicology sample from the driver. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. Preston had become a sensation on TikTok, winning over followers with his enthusiasm for playtime and his signature phrase, "OK." His mother often shared videos that captured Preston wholeheartedly launching into the mud, jumping into a pool, and heading to baseball— always with an earnest response of "OK" after she told him to be careful “I know you guys looked forward to seeing him every day. I know that in heaven right now, if there’s mud in heaven, he’s probably found it,” Carson Matranga — a fellow TikToker and friend of the Ordone family— explained in a video posted to Katelynn Ordone’s TikTok page on April 27. In the same video, Carson Matranga’s wife, Brielle Matranga, updated followers on the family’s condition. “Caitlin has multiple broken bones. She had a very bad concussion. She walked for the first time today,” she remarked, adding that the couple’s older daughter, Paisley, was not present during the crash. “Jalen had to have emergency surgery on one of his legs. He has rods and pins in it.” On social media, fans of the family expressed a profound sense of disbelief and sadness over the news. “I am shocked to my core by this whole thing,” one user wrote in response to the video shared by the Matrangas. “Preston would always pop up on my fyp & would instantly put a smile on my face. It’s so scary the way things can change in the blink of an eye ... I am sending so much love to the entire family. Anytime I see a little one splashing in a mud puddles I’ll think of Preston. His name & memory will live on forever in all the children in our lives.” “I’ve never felt so sick to my stomach after hearing about someone’s passing that I’ve never personally met,” another replied.” “After finding out this news he’s been all over my fyp he was so little and always found the fun in everything I can’t believe it still it doesn’t feel real at all,” added another.
