Pre-trial for Clearwater Ferry crash involving Jeffry Knight after several months
A Pinellas County businessman accused of causing a fatal crash involving the Clearwater Ferry faced a pretrial hearing on Monday. Jeffrey Knight, 62, who pleaded not guilty to eight felony charges including leaving the scene of a boating accident with fatalities and injuries, appeared in court. Following the incident in April that resulted in the death of one person and injuries to several others, Knight stepped down as the owner of Jannus Live in St. Petersburg. An investigation revealed that Knight left the crash site and expressed distress to passengers on his boat, allegedly attempting to prevent them from calling for help. The next court appearance is set for January 12 at 1 p.m.
