Police Union Leader on Leave Following Deadly Accident
A Dallas police officer has been put on administrative leave by the department's Internal Affairs Division for their involvement in a fatal crash earlier this year. The victim's family is frustrated by the lack of transparency in the investigation. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux confirmed that Senior Corporal Jaime Castro was placed on leave last Friday, but the department has not provided additional details, stating that the internal investigation is still active. The incident occurred on March 15 when Atianna Washington was fatally hit while crossing a road. Attorney Scott Palmer, representing Washington's family, expressed their struggle in obtaining information from the police, especially regarding the driver of the vehicle involved. While the investigation appears to be progressing, Palmer anticipates a slow process. The Dallas Police Department has not linked the internal affairs investigation directly to the March incident, and FOX 4 has requested pertinent records related to the case. The Dallas County District Attorney's Office has not revealed if the case will be brought to a grand jury.
