Police searching for dangerous hit-and-run driver in west Phoenix

Authorities are currently investigating a fatal accident that resulted in the closure of an intersection in west Phoenix on the morning of Oct. 24. The Phoenix Police responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by an SUV at the intersection of 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road around 5:43 a.m. Tragically, the man involved sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased by firefighters. Eyewitnesses reported that a gray Jeep Cherokee was involved, with a female driver in her 40s briefly exiting the vehicle before driving away. The intersection was temporarily closed for investigation but has since reopened. The deceased individual has not been publicly identified, and police are actively pursuing leads to locate the responsible party. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Silent Witness.
