Police say drunk driver caused fatal collision on Highway 224
A man was taken into custody on Thursday in Clackamas County for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) following a deadly accident on Hwy 224, per Oregon State Police. The incident occurred in the afternoon, with Luis Lopez, 64, reportedly colliding into the back of Timothy Woodward's Toyota Celica as he was driving. The force of the impact pushed the Toyota into the opposing lane, leading to a head-on collision with a Subaru Forrester heading eastbound. Tragically, Woodward lost his life in the crash, while the Toyota's passenger and the Subaru's driver sustained serious injuries. Lopez, who was checked for injuries and found to be impaired, was arrested. The authorities highlighted impaired driving as a major factor in the accident, with investigations ongoing.
