Police respond to accident on Governors' Parkway

The Edwardsville police and fire departments responded to a two-car accident on Governors' Parkway between Plum Street and Esic Drive about 12:20 p.m. May 27. According to an officer on scene, one driver suffered minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene. Both cars suffered damage and were to be towed from the scene. Eastbound Governors' Parkway was temporarily closed as debris from the accident was being cleared. Sgt. Marcus Wagner said the crash was the second to occur near the intersection. Esic Drive is currently a key part of the detour in place because of the Center Grove bridge replacement project. The two accidents were 100 feet from each other, Wagner said. "I just want people to be aware of the congested traffic conditions due to construction. So people just need to be more aware of their surroundings so we can prevent accidents like this," Wagner said. No further information was immediately available.
