Police probe deadly collision in Addison County; Onlookers rescue victims from burning car

Route 7 in Leicester is now open after a tragic accident that occurred on Sunday. Vermont State Police were called to the scene near Cram Road after a Chevy Trailblazer driven by Jeremy Nolette, 51, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Pontiac G6. The crash caused the Pontiac to veer off the road and catch fire, trapping driver Thomas Gero, 52, and passenger Gillian Gero, 50. Fortunately, bystanders were able to rescue them and provide CPR. Both Jeremy and his passenger, Lisa Nolette, were also trapped in their vehicle but were eventually freed and taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, Gillian Gero did not survive the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and any witnesses are urged to contact the Vermont State Police barracks in New Haven.
