
Police: One dead after car hit a tree in Spartanburg
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - One person was killed early Sunday morning in a wreck in Spartanburg County. According to Spartanburg County Coroner's Office, coroners were called early Sunday morning to a wreck at the intersection of West St. John Street and Stevens Street in Spartanburg. The coroner's office said Mark Girgorchuk, 24, of Inman, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Spartanburg Police Department, at around 1:45 a.m. Gigorchuk was one of three people in a BMW traveling on West Saint John Street towards West Main Street when the driver collided with the cement curb, causing the BMW to leave the roadway and hit a tree near Stevens Street. Police said the driver of the BMW and another passenger survived the crash. The wreck remains under investigation by the Spartanburg Police Department and Spartanburg County Coroner's Office
