Police officer hospitalized after rollover crash on Cape Cod

A police officer was taken to a hospital Thursday after a Sandwich Police Department cruiser that was responding to a call was involved in a rollover crash, officials said. The officer was responding just after 9 a.m. in his cruiser, which had its lights and sirens on, to a reported overdose in East Sandwich. While passing through the intersection of Cotuit and Quaker Meeting House roads a vehicle struck the cruiser causing it to roll over, police said. Fire officials extricated the officer from the cruiser, and the officer was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where he was treated and released.The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
