Police: Minor hit and killed by car in Encinitas
ENCINITAS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A child under 18 is dead after being hit by a car in Encinitas Friday night, authorities have confirmed. Deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a vehicle vs pedestrian collision at 6:50 p.m. Friday near the intersection with Encinitas Boulevard and Village Square Drive in Encinitas. The minor, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities confirmed. A portion of Encinitas Boulevard was closed following the fatal collision. Police say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The San Diego County Sheriff's Traffic Division is investigating.
