Police identify victims of fatal SR-40 crash that occurred Saturday afternoon

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Police have identified the two victims killed in a crash on State Route 40 on Saturday afternoon. Around 2:30 p.m. on March 14, a box truck was traveling eastbound on State Route 40, while a Chevy Silverado pickup was traveling westbound. At approximately milepost 51, the eastbound box truck reportedly left its lane of travel to the right side and drove a short distance onto the dirt shoulder. Then, it reentered the roadway and crossed the centerline of the roadway, colliding with the Silverado. According to Utah Highway Patrol, the cab of the box truck was disconnected from the frame and came to rest upside down. Following the incident, UHP stated that the two occupants of the Silverado had sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. On Monday, the identified the two victims as 39-year-old Don C. Herbert and 34-year-old Mitchell L. Farnsworth. The driver of the box truck, who police have not publicly identified, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. At this time, his current condition is unknown. Police have not released any additional information at this time.
