
Police file DUI, homicide by vehicle charges in fatal pedestrian crash in Carlisle
CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -- A man is facing charges after police say he was under the influence when he drove up onto the sidewalk and struck two people. Martin Leroy Brinton, 57, is facing felony homicide by vehicle while DUI and aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI charges. According to Carlisle Police, around 8:17 p.m. Friday, Brinton drove up onto the sidewalk near South Hanover Street and West Pomfret Street in the borough and struck a 73-year-old woman and 74-year-old man. The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital and the man is in critical condition, police said. Brinton, police alleged, was under the influence at the time. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and then to Cumberland County Prison.
