
Pilot and toddler in DeKalb County, IL plane crash
The recent fatal crash near Hinckley, Illinois, involving a single-engine plane has resulted in the identification of the pilot as James A. Beyer, a 51-year-old resident of Maple Park, Illinois. The incident occurred close to Hinckley Airfield on Saturday afternoon. Sadly, the pilot did not survive the crash, while a 3-year-old boy, also from Maple Park, was injured but is now in stable condition at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting investigations into the crash. Authorities from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office have been on-site to start assessments and plan the safe removal of the aircraft from the farm field where it crashed.
