Person killed in late-night crash near Las Vegas Speedway
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A person was killed in a late-night crash in the northeast part of the valley, near the Las Vegas Speedway. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, the crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Monday, May 4, on southbound I-15 at the Tropical Parkway off-ramp. The crash closed lanes on the highway for several hours while police investigated. Drivers were asked to use alternate routes and avoid the area. As of 5:30 a.m., all lanes appear to be reopened. The crash involved one sedan, police said. Medical personnel pronounced one person dead at the scene. It was not immediately clear if there were any other people in the vehicle. NHP did not provide any additional information, including what led to the crash. Police said more information will be provided following the preliminary investigation. This is a developing story.
