Pedestrian critically injured in Westport crosswalk incident
A person was seriously injured when hit by a pickup truck while crossing a street in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident took place on Main Street at Westport Road on Saturday afternoon. The pedestrian, who was using a marked crosswalk with a red traffic signal, was struck by the truck as it turned from Westport Road onto Main Street. The pedestrian was thrown onto the ground and sustained critical injuries, being hospitalized in critical condition. The driver of the truck was unharmed and remained at the scene. Following the accident, the KC Streetcar service was temporarily halted for about an hour and a half as Main Street was closed. Both the street and streetcar service have since reopened.
