The Massachusetts Turnpike was closed in both directions in Palmer for a time Thursday afternoon after a serious crash. The crash happened just before 3 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 at mile marker 64.5. Massachusetts State Police said a "vehicle rear-ended a tractor trailer resulting in serious injuries and entrapment" in the westbound lanes.The eastbound lanes of the highway reopened at about 4:45 p.m.From Sky 5, a gray Mercedes sedan could be seen wedged under the rear of a tractor trailer, which was in the breakdown lane.The roadway was closed to allow LifeFlight to land on the highway.
