Oscar Piastri's Sao Paulo GP crash linked to Lando Norris: Was it unintentional?

Oscar Piastri faced a setback in the Formula 1 championship battle after crashing out of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix Sprint. There is speculation questioning whether his McLaren teammate inadvertently caused the accident, as Piastri's car spun into the barrier on lap six when he ran onto a wet kerb at Turn 3. Following this incident, Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg and Alpine's Franco Colapinto also fell victim at the same spot. The drivers seemed surprised by the strong reaction their cars had to the kerb, indicating that the corner's condition may have changed. The potential cause was hinted at when Kimi Antonelli on the Mercedes team, who was in second place, mentioned that leader Norris had splashed a significant amount of water onto the track when he ran onto the kerb. Piastri admitted his mistake of running too wide, leading to the crash. Despite the growing gap to Norris in the standings, Piastri accepted his error, describing it as a "silly mistake." Sky Sports F1 pundit Karun Chandhok also acknowledged Piastri's self-criticism. Both Colapinto and Hulkenberg were left confused by their crashes, with both drivers claiming they did not do anything different from previous laps. George Russell humorously compared the incident to a Mario Kart game. Norris admitted running wider than intended, leading to water splashing onto the track. Antonelli, who finished third, exercised caution after observing Norris running wide. The Sao Paulo GP continues on Sunday at 5 pm.
