Oregon authorities have identified two individuals who lost their lives in a tragic waterfall incident near Bend. The victims were Amanda Lloyd, 40, from Rockwall, Texas, and Lindsay Bashan, 33, from Parkland, Florida. The accident occurred over the weekend as a group was swept over Dillon Falls on the Deschutes River. This part of the river is known for its 15-foot falls and dangerous rapids, hindered by rocks, logs, and debris. The group, floating on tied-together inner tubes, experienced a tragedy when three members were swept into the rapids. Two individuals were tragically found deceased, while the search continues for the remaining missing person. Search operations have been challenging but have received praise for their coordinated efforts. Authorities have shared that recreating in this area typically ends at the Dillon Falls day use area, as warning signs alert visitors to the dangerous waterfall ahead. The survivors of the incident sustained minor injuries and have been treated at a local hospital. Additionally, the three survivors' names are being kept confidential to respect their privacy. The Deschutes River, a popular destination for water activities in Bend, draws visitors for rafting, kayaking, and paddleboarding during the summer months.
