Oregon officials ID 2 dead in waterfall incident, search for missing person

Authorities in Oregon have identified two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a recent waterfall accident, while the search continues for the one person still missing. The victims, Amanda Lloyd from Rockwall, Texas, and Lindsay Bashan from Parkland, Florida, were part of a group that was swept over Dillon Falls on the Deschutes River near Bend. This section of the river is known for its hazardous 15-foot falls and rocky rapids. The incident occurred when six people floating on inner tubes tied together were swept into the rough waters. Three individuals managed to escape and reach shore, while the other three were carried away by the rapids. Search and rescue teams, including divers, aircraft, and search dogs, have been tirelessly working to locate the missing person. Despite the challenging conditions, sheriff's office spokesperson Jason Carr commended the efforts of the search teams in bringing closure to the affected families. The survivors, who sustained minor injuries, were taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The Deschutes River, a popular spot for recreational activities, is known for its diverse water sports offerings during the summer.
