Opinions on electric bikes in Brooklyn Park crash
A collision between a vehicle and an e-bike on Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park sparked a controversy. According to Zackary Brown, who was on the e-bike, he was hit by the vehicle and called the police. However, upon investigation, he received several citations for riding an unlicensed motor vehicle on the road, despite his claims that it was a legal Class II e-bike. Brown’s e-bike, the MX650, was found to not meet the requirements of a Class II e-bike, as it lacked operable pedals and had been modified. Authorities remind consumers to carefully review advertisements for such vehicles, as they may be falsely labeled as Class II e-bikes even if they do not meet Maryland's legal definition.
