One person seriously hurt in Wabash Avenue car crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person has been hospitalized with critical injuries after being hit while walking along Wabash Avenue, Friday evening. Just before 4:30 p.m. officers with the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) responded to a critical injury crash in the area of East 31st Street and Wabash Avenue where a two car crash caused one of the cars to hit a pedestrian as they were crossing the street. A police report reveals that a red Acura TL was traveling westbound on 31st Street when a black Mercedes GT53 attempted to pull out on the street from a driveway without yielding to oncoming traffic. The Mercedes then hit the Acura, causing the Mercedes to turn and hit the pedestrian as they attempted to cross Wabash Avenue. Both drivers were uninjured, however, the pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital where police say they are in serious, but stable condition. At this time, the investigation remains ongoing.
