One person killed, one injured after early morning collision in Leavenworth
In Leavenworth, there was a tragic early morning crash that resulted in the death of a man and serious injuries to a woman. The incident, reported by the Kansas Highway Patrol, occurred around 4 a.m. near North 7th Street and Shawnee Street. The driver of a 2008 Chevy Corvette was speeding eastbound, causing the car to become airborne, lose stability upon contact with the road, and eventually collide with a curb, tree, and building. The driver, identified as Jeremy Head, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 32-year-old female passenger, who sustained significant injuries, was taken to the hospital. Neither occupant was wearing seatbelts at the time, as per KHP reports.
