One person dies in small plane crash near West Glacier.
UPDATE: 4:55 p.m. - August 12, 2025 Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino confirmed to MTN News that the individual aboard a small plane that crashed near West Glacier on Tuesday afternoon has sadly passed away. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently conducting an investigation into the tragic incident. Earlier report: 3:58 p.m. - August 12, 2025 Sheriff Heino reported to MTN News that emergency crews are currently at the scene of a small aircraft incident at Ryan Field near West Glacier this Tuesday afternoon. Reports indicate a single prop airplane has overturned and gone off the runway into an embankment. The number and condition of passengers on board remain unknown at this time. Last month, two individuals lost their lives in a separate accident at the same privately-owned airfield due to a plane crash, while just this Monday, four individuals miraculously survived a fiery crash at the Kalispell City Airport.- details shared from Sean Wells in this report.
