One person detained after fatal collision in St. Charles Parish

A man has been taken into custody in connection with a deadly collision that took place in St. Charles Parish. The Louisiana State Police reported that the incident occurred on the evening of April 29 on Interstate 310 north near US 61. Allegedly, 43-year-old Gary Entremont of Montz was driving a 2024 Dodge Ram recklessly and rear-ended a Honda sedan, causing it to ignite. Sadly, a passenger in the Honda, 29-year-old Kenia Alvarado from Metairie, lost her life at the scene, while the driver sustained serious injuries. Both individuals were possibly not properly restrained. Entremont, who was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries, was suspected of impairment and was taken into custody after displaying signs of impairment at a local hospital. He now faces several charges including reckless driving, driving under the influence, and negligence resulting in death and injury. The investigation is ongoing, and results from tests to confirm intoxication are pending.
