One killed in Mentor head-on crash
MENTOR, Ohio (WJW) – The Mentor Police Department is investigating a deadly head-on collision that happened in the city. Police responded near the intersection of Heisley Rd and Tyler Blvd before 5 p.m. Monday. According to a press release, a Hyundai Sonata headed northbound on Heisley Road went left of center and hit another car head-on. The driver of the Sonata was killed. He was identified as Ismael Rivera, 30, of Painesville. The Mentor Fire Department pronounced Rivera dead at the scene, according to a press release. A passenger in the Sonata was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, as was the driver of the other vehicle. Police say the accident remains under investigation.
