
One dead, others injured after crash on 322 in Centre County - WTAJ
CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- One person was killed, and several others were injured Monday morning after a crash on Route 322 in Centre County. The crash happened on the 5700 block of the Mount Nittany Expressway. State College police said a Chevrolet truck was driving west on 322 when the 36-year-old driver crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a tractor-trailer. The crash caused the tractor-trailer to cross into the westbound lane and hit two other vehicles. According to police, the driver of the Chevrolet truck was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the tractor-trailer and two other vehicles were also taken to the hospital where they were treated and later released. The identity of the truck driver has not yet been released as police make notifications. According to the Boalsburg Fire Chief Van Winter, the call came in at 6:20 a.m. for a crash involving six vehicles in total on 322 in Harris Township (Mount Nittany Expressway). He added that eight others were evaluated at the scene by first responders. Route 322 was closed for several hours. Centre County EMA assisted at the scene. Centre Lifelink EMS, The Centre County Accident Reconstruction Team, Centre County Coroner’s Officer, Boalsburg Fire Department and Fire Police and PennDOT assisted the State College Police Department.
