One dead in fatal Greenville car crash
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) -- Law enforcement officers with the Greenville Police Department and first responders assisted with a fatal car crash Wednesday. Two eyewitnesses to the crash reported that a white Dodge Charger was allegedly speeding and using the center turn lane as a travel lane when they merged into traffic and collided with a blue Nissan. The Nissan was leaving the parking lot of the Family Dollar on Greenville Boulevard at the time of the crash. Greenville resident, 24 year old Jalen Elijah Wright, was the only occupant of the Nissan. He was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived. The three people inside the Dodge sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to ECU Health for further treatment. The Greenville Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
