One dead after head-on crash in Delaware County
DELAWARE, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead after a head-on crash Tuesday morning in Delaware County. According to the Delaware Police Department, officers were called to U.S. Route 42 between Fern Drive and London Road in the south side of Delaware. Police report that at about 5:20 a.m., a Honda Odyssey heading southbound collided with a Kia Sportage traveling northbound. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Kia was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Delaware PD said its accident reconstruction team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, which occurred on an east and westbound portion of the road, though it is unclear at this time how the two vehicles ran into each other. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors, police said, adding the crash caused U.S. 42 to close for approximately four hours.
