One dead after car crashes into Long Pond Outlet

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — One person has died after a car crashed into the Long Pond Outlet on Sunday. News 8 crews spotted New York State Police and Greece Police Department vehicles at a taped-off scene on Sunday. According to New York State Police, they were involved in a welfare check after receiving threats of self-harm and mention of a weapon over the phone. Troopers said they found a vehicle associated with the individual on Long Pond Road. Investigators revealed the vehicle accelerated, left the roadway, struck a wall and a structure, and then came to a rest in the outlet. Officers removed the person from the vehicle and tried to perform life-saving measures. The individual died from their injury. The Monroe County Medical Examiner and New York State Police are continuing to investigate this incident. This is a developing story.
