Oklahoma sees 12 fatalities over deadly weekend with OHP troopers on duty

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is advising residents to make safety their top priority in the wake of a tragic weekend that resulted in 12 fatalities statewide. Troopers responded to seven crashes, resulting in nine deaths, as well as three drownings. One fatal crash on Interstate 35 in McClain County led to a closure of part of the interstate for several hours. During the incident, a deputy directing traffic was struck by a vehicle, but thankfully, the deputy was wearing a seat belt and sustained minimal injuries. To prevent further tragedies, officials are urging drivers to be vigilant, adhere to safety measures such as wearing seat belts, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles on the road.
