
Ohio State ex-player accused in Dublin deadly collision had previous impairment troubles
A former Ohio State football player appeared in court on Monday in connection with a fatal crash that happened in Dublin, Ohio. Kirk Barton, 40, faced charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a motor vehicle while impaired following an incident on June 21. The crash resulted in the death of Ethan Perry, 24, and Barton sustaining injuries. Barton, who has a history of traffic offenses and admitted to drinking alcohol at the time of the crash, pleaded not guilty in court. The judge upheld his $500,000 bond and imposed conditions such as not operating a vehicle and wearing a scram bracelet to monitor alcohol consumption, during his arraignment hearing on Monday. Barton, a former offensive lineman for Ohio State, played for the team from 2003 to 2007.
