Ohio Highway Patrol investigates fatal crash at Ohio 93 and U.S. 250 in Tuscarawas County

A 53-year-old Canton man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night at the intersection of state Route 93 and U.S. 250 in Franklin Township, Tuscarawas County. The New Philadelphia Highway Patrol Post said a 2008 Nissan Rogue was traveling south on Route 93 when it entered the intersection and struck a commercial trailer being pulled by a 2021 Peterbilt commercial truck that was traveling northwest on U.S. 250. Investigators said the Nissan failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver of the Nissan, Jeffrey Knerr, of Canton, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office. Troopers said Knerr was not wearing a seat belt and impairment is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
