Ohio BCI probes fatal crash, standoff, and police shooting
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is looking into a fatal shooting involving the Southwest Enforcement Bureau that occurred after a pursuit led to a deadly crash and a standoff lasting over four hours, as reported by the Brooklyn Police Department. On Tuesday morning, officers from Parma Heights Police were called to assist Parma Police in a situation where a man threatened suicide by cop. The man, who had been spotted on a camera in Parma Heights driving a black F-150 pickup truck, fled when officers tried to pull him over. The pursuit led to a crash involving the truck and two other vehicles on Tiedeman Road near I-480, resulting in injuries to three people in the other vehicles and the death of one driver. The driver of the pickup truck, who was holding a gun to his head and continued to threaten suicide by cop, was eventually shot by a tactical officer after a failed negotiation. The shooter was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. The Ohio BCI was brought in to investigate the incident.
