Officers in Florida charged for abandoning victims in 2024 deadly crash: report

Seven police officers from West Palm Beach, Florida are now facing charges after a Boynton Beach crash that tragically took the lives of two women last year. The officers were involved in an arrest for an armed robbery on July 30, 2024, during which they were pursuing Neoni Copeland. Copeland, driving a grey Kia Stinger, collided with another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of Marcia Pochette and her daughter Jenice Woods. The officers, including members of the Gang and Habitual Offender Suppression Team (GHOST), were reported to have been chasing Copeland at high speeds, with none of their body cameras activated. The officers did not stop to provide aid or notify emergency services following the fatal crash and left the scene promptly. Charges have been brought against the drivers of the police vehicles, as well as the passengers, for official misconduct and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
