Officer linked to deadly crash involved in West Baltimore gunfight
A Baltimore Police detective named Devin Yancy, who had been involved in a fatal shootout recently, was also connected to a previous incident in 2023. In the earlier case, Yancy was part of a pursuit involving a stolen car that ended tragically when the car crashed into a building and caused it to collapse, resulting in a fatality. Despite an internal investigation, Yancy did not face charges for his actions in that incident. More recently, on June 17, 2025, Yancy was one of the officers involved in a shootout in West Baltimore, where a suspect was killed. An internal investigation is currently ongoing into the officers' actions during this latest incident.
