Officer from Canton Police dies in collision
A Canton Police officer tragically lost his life in a car accident while on his way to work early Monday morning, as reported by Canton Police officials. Officer Dave Wolgamott was involved in the crash in the 800 block of Cherry Avenue SE shortly before 7 a.m. and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital, where he passed away a short while later. Wolgamott had served as an officer for more than 19 years and was part of the patrol division, also handling responsibilities within the jail, according to the police department. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Rep. Emilia Sykes both issued statements expressing their condolences and sadness over Wolgamott's tragic passing.
