Off-duty LAPD officer killed in fiery crash; woman arrested for DUI after driving through scene
During the night in Santa Clarita, an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer tragically passed away in a single-car crash that resulted in a fire. A woman who was not involved in the crash was arrested for driving through the scene of the accident as the investigation was ongoing. The collision occurred at the intersection of Cinema Drive and Bouquet Canyon Road near the Valencia Mart Shopping Center, with firefighters being the first responders to find the car engulfed in flames. The male driver was declared deceased at the crash site. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department mentioned that while deputies were examining the crash, a different driver went through the active crime scene perimeter and was apprehended on suspicion of driving under the influence. The woman's identity has not been disclosed yet. Later, it was confirmed that the individual in the crash was indeed an off-duty LAPD officer, with the officer's name being kept private until their next of kin is informed.
