Off-duty crash in Okeechobee County claims life of Martin County deputy
The Martin County Sheriff's Office is deeply saddened by the passing of Deputy Shawn Green, a dedicated officer who had served with the agency for 25 years. Deputy Green, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in Okeechobee County, had worked in various roles within the agency, such as road patrol, courthouse security, and the corrections department. He was also a proud member of the Martin County Sheriff's Honor Guard. Deputy Green came from a family deeply rooted in law enforcement, with his father being a retired detective from the agency and two sisters and his brother-in-law currently serving with the MCSO. Deputy Green is remembered as a loyal friend and respected colleague; he leaves behind a young daughter, loving siblings, devoted parents, and a large extended family who cherished him dearly. Additionally, it was reported by WPTV in 2020 that Deputy Green had survived a serious accident while rendering assistance at the scene of a rollover accident on State Road 714.
