Off-duty crash in Apple Valley leads to St. Cloud police officer's death after a week
Officer Ryan Ebert of the St. Cloud, Minnesota police department tragically passed away at Hennepin County Medical Center following a crash earlier this week. He was an 18-year veteran of the department, known for his service as a patrol officer and investigator. The incident occurred on Highway 77, and despite efforts to save him, Ebert's injuries were deemed unsurvivable. The crash involved his truck, a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500, a transit bus, and a cable barrier. The bus driver, Phillip Alan Wright, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. It was reported that a small amount of alcohol was found in Ebert's system, though it was far below the limit considered to impair driving. Chief Jeff Oxton shared that Ebert's organs will be donated, reflecting his commitment to helping others even after his passing.
