NYPD suspends 2 officers after deadly pursuit

Two New York City police officers have been suspended for reportedly failing to remain at the scene of a deadly crash following a pursuit on the Henry Hudson Parkway. The officers, who belong to the 50th precinct in the Bronx, allegedly did not disclose the chase and departed after the driver left the parkway and crashed in Upper Manhattan. According to the NYPD, the officers engaged in an "unauthorized pursuit," which violated department regulations as they chased a vehicle from Manhattan to the Bronx. The incident, where a vehicle caught fire at the Dyckman Street exit after leaving the parkway, resulted in the discovery of an unidentified male body in the driver's seat. Investigators have not found any signs of foul play or suspicion regarding the death. The NYPD Force Investigation Division and the New York Attorney General's office are conducting an inquiry into the matter, as details surface about the stolen vehicle involved.
